Landrum Man Charged With Assult On Wife A 34-year-old Landrum man Thursday was charged with as sault and battery with intent to kill in a warrant issued by Mag istrate Bobo Burnett. W. Ikie Tinsley is accused of assaulting his wife, Sylda Tinsley, at their home Wednesday night, police said. Mrs. Tinsley told Mag istrate Burnett her husband snapped a gun at her twice but the pistol failed to go off. The warrant was signed by Mrs. Tins ley. Tinsley was arrested early Thursday morning on Mills Ave. Police said Tinsley had a .38 cali ber pistol in his possession when picked up. He was transferred to County Jail and later released un der $1,000 bond.—t-The Spartan burg Herald. 4-H Junior Dairy Calf Show At Harmon Field Tuesday Polk County 4-H’ers are plan ning for a big day at Harmon Field near Tryon, Sept. 1. There will be 50 4-H‘ers rep resenting every section of the county on hand to exhibit their dairy cow, calf, gilt, or pullets. The show will get underway at 9:30 a. m., and will be climaxed by an auction of 120 selected sex linked pullets at 2 p. m. Jack Kelly of the North Carolina State College animal Industry De partment will be on hand to jud-re the Hampshire gilts, and j. D. George of the Dairy Department v.,;U judge the dairy cows and calves. J. Raymond West, Assist ant County Agent of Buncombe County will be on hand to judge the pullets. Prizes will be award ed to the 4-H boys and girls on the basis of blue, red, or white^dbons (Danish System). Lunch will be served to peo ple obtaining a ticket from the Polk County Home Demonstration office. Admission is free and the pub lic is invited. The Landrum Cannery will be opened only by appointment, # ac cording to F. M. Hart, manager.
